Position Department: Health Information Management
Summary: The director of Health Information Management is responsible for the overall day to day leadership of Managing Health Information Services including functions of Record Completion in compliance with Medical Staff Rules & Regulations and The Joint Commission - State Licensing requirements, Record Access & Retention functions, Release of Information, and adherence to various internal and external compliance issues (Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules & Regulations, and The Joint Commission -State Licensing. Assure that the medical record is kept confidential, secure, current, authenticated, legible, and complete.

Assure that the medical record is kept confidential, secure, current, authenticated, legible, and complete.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a resource for The Joint Commission Management of Information standards as well as those standards pertaining to documentation in medical records, State Licensing and Federal Regulations. Assists in the preparation during various inspections and surveys.
- Develop, implement, and maintaining a coding compliance plan for coding.
- Ensure the highest quality of care and service.
- Provide the necessary support and management of information as it pertained to all facets of the responsibilities within the HIM Department and all related activities generated from the medical record department to maintain compliance with The Joint Commission, State, Federal, and all other regulatory agencies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management. (Relevant education and/or experience may be substituted for one another in accordance with policy.)
- AHIMA registration as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
- A minimum of three years supervisory/management experience in Health Information Management.
- Requires broad knowledge of healthcare/insurance industry, and regulatory standards.
- Hands on management style that can lead, develop, and motivate staff in both the hospital and clinic settings. Ability to recommend and participate in system and process development within and without the HIM Department.
- Proficiency in PC knowledge, computerized health information systems (Meditech), software applications and hardware.
